Wildlings Creative takes out the Agency of the Year award at the Campaign Brief WA Awards

Last year Wildlings took out the Challenger Agency of the Year award at the Campaign Brief Awards. This year they fulfilled their promise by going one step further taking out this year’s Agency of the Year award. The past 18 months has been outstanding for the agency and they are really shaking up the Perth market and getting noticed by clients and through the creativity of their campaigns for these clients. This is the first time Wildlings has won Agency of the Year and they edged out The Brand Agency (who have won this award 7 times over the past 10 years) and another new startup Moonsail. Other shortlisted agencies were 303 MullenLowe, Bonfire, kwpx&partners and Rare.

It’s a breakout year for Wildlings after a compelling year of success. 2023 saw them acquire 18 new clients including Curtin University, Development WA, City of Perth and DFES. With the addition of 8 new senior hires, the agency doubled in size and moved to new premises in Beaufort Street to accommodate their growing team.

Accolades for Wildlings in 2023 include 3rd ranked amongst small agencies and 17th overall in Australia by Campaign Briefís Australia.

They were also the only agency from Western Australia nominated at the Australian Marketing Awards and the only one to win metal at the London International Awards, judged in Las Vegas. At the PADC awards, they secured 3 Gold, 4 Silver and 5 Bronze awards, including the titles of Copywriter of the Year and Young Talent of the Year.

To enhance their strategic capabilities, they appointed Pete Wamsley and the part-time appointment of Paula Keamy. Identifying the need for fast, efficient content, they launched an in-house content division and built their own editing suite. They added a in-house media planner and saw revenue growth accelerate with a 31% increase in turnover and a 19% increase in net profit.

It was a wild year of new business for the agency, with Wildlings recording its biggest-ever period of new business growth.

Successfully bringing the Curtin University brand back to WA from a lead creative agency in NSW, Curtin is now Wildling’s largest client, and they are currently in the process of developing the first round of major campaigns due to go to market in 2024. Other new business wins include City of Perth, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), a share of the Development WA account, Pentanet, Mental Health Commission Wildlings, Boola Bardip WA Museum and Brightwater amongst others.
