Western Power ‘Powering our Lives’ with new campaign via Wunderman Thompson

Western Power has launched a new campaign targeted at building awareness of the vital role the grid plays in powering the ever-changing lives of West Australians.

Created by Wunderman Thompson, ‘Powering our Lives’ is the first Western Power campaign which illustrates how the integration of renewable energy sources and smart technology enables the powering of communities through a more sustainable energy supply.

Western Power’s Brand and Customer Communications Manager, Jill Goodwin, said: “This is the first time we’re talking to our customers about the sustainability of the network. About the trials and projects we’re conducting, and how we’re working to improve customer choice, reliability and affordability of supply. Especially in times like these we want to reassure our customers that we’re there for them now and into the future”.

The campaign also marks the first agency shoot in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and quickly became living proof of everyone’s ability to adapt. With no client or agency on set for four days across multiple locations, and with the agency’s producer located in Sydney, every take was monitored, fed back on and approved via an online viewing platform.

Joe Hawkins, Creative Director at Wunderman Thompson, said: “Creating this campaign was always going to be an exciting challenge. Adding social distancing rules and regional travel restrictions to the production mix was a curveball that none of us predicted, but I’m proud to say it brought out the best problem solving, collaborative and positive attitude in everyone involved.

“The result is a campaign that clearly positions Western Power as leading the way in enabling a more sustainable future for the communities, businesses and people of WA. And you’d never know we created it at a time when none of us sat in the same room together.”

The campaign is currently running on TV, OLV, online, social and radio, and represents the first in a series of messages that will run over the phased awareness platform.
