It was a big night for the Perth industry at the Gala Oasis Ball and Campaign Brief WA Awards, held in front of 800 guests at the Crown Towers Ballroom. In total, 11 Creative Awards were presented, alongside 12 Organisation, Agency and People Awards recognising the state’s top agencies, companies and industry leaders.

It was also a night of firsts for Block, one of Perth’s most consistently awarded creative agencies in recent years. Block claimed the biggest honour of the evening, winning Campaign Brief WA’s Agency of the Year title for the first time.

Block edged out fellow finalists The Brand Agency and Rare to secure the prestigious award.

Below are the winners of the Campaign Brief WA Agency and Organisation of the Year Awards.

Campaign Brief WA Agency of the Year: Block

After years of consistently strong performance, and twice finishing as runner-up, Block has claimed its first Campaign Brief WA Agency of the Year title. The accolade caps a landmark year for the agency, defined by creative excellence, commercial innovation and clear strategic intent.

In what proved to be a challenging year for the industry, the jury was focused on recognising forward momentum and selecting an agency not just for scale, but for its willingness to explore new systems, evolve commercial models and contribute positively to the future of the sector. Block stood out on all fronts. Block edged out runner-up agencies The Brand Agency and Rare. Other finalists included 303, KWP+Partners, Moonsail, Nani, VML and Wildlings.

In 2025, Block delivered a body of work that not only stood out creatively, but also demonstrated the kind of consistency and effectiveness required to separate itself in a highly competitive field. This was not a win built on a single standout campaign, but on a sustained run of quality output across multiple categories and clients, underpinned by a sharp strategic approach and a commitment to craft.

At the core of Block’s success is its ability to balance creativity with commercial outcomes. Over the past year, the agency has produced campaigns that connected with audiences while delivering measurable results for clients. Whether driving brand awareness, shifting perception or delivering tangible business growth, the work consistently proved that strong ideas that are executed well can have real impact.

This performance has been recognised across the industry, with Block delivering a strong showing at both local and national award shows. These accolades reflect the agency’s ability to compete at the highest level, reinforcing its reputation as one of the leading independent agencies in the country. For a Perth-based business, this continued recognition on a broader stage speaks volumes about the quality and ambition of its output.

However, what truly set 2025 apart for Block was not just the work, but the way the agency evolved its business. It was a year of deliberate transformation. A year that saw Block invest in new systems, new structures and new ways of working designed to support long-term growth without compromising the quality of its product.

Campaign Brief WA’s Jury Chair Gayle While, Chief Executive Officer of Havas Host Sydney, noted: “Block is a strategically impressive independent agency and in 2025 they clearly demonstrated how to grow without losing craft or judgement, which is not easy. 2025 was certainly a year of intent for them, unleashing new systems through three connected operational pillars, a geographical expansion in Eastern Block and a new offering in Vacant Block. Their remuneration innovation (UnBlock) demonstrates leadership in fixing broken agency commercial models and in exploring ways to ensure that creative agencies maintain value. They didn’t just focus on growing themselves, the team also invested time and passion in giving back to industry initiatives. Their success is improving the industry, not just themselves.”

Campaign Brief WA Challenger Organisation of the Year: Berlin

In a category that recognises bold thinking, rapid growth and the ability to challenge the status quo, this year’s Campaign Brief WA Challenger Organisation of the Year award goes to Berlin. An independent agency that has quickly turned ambition into impact. In just over two years, Berlin has built a reputation for delivering high-quality, purpose-driven work proving that a Fremantle-based challenger can compete with Perth’s more established players.

Just two and a half years since launching, Berlin Creative has firmly established itself as one of Western Australia’s most compelling challenger agencies. They have backed a bold founding belief that creative excellence and public impact are not mutually exclusive, but mutually reinforcing.

What began as a two-person venture has quickly evolved into an independent with a clear point of difference: directing strategic, creative and production craft towards work that matters. Over the past 12 months, that proposition has not only held, it has scaled.

Berlin’s most significant milestone came with its appointment as lead creative agency for Cancer Council Australia’s National Cancer Navigation Service, a federally funded program supporting Australians affected by cancer. Entrusted to lead a multi-agency village, the win signals growing national confidence in Berlin’s ability to deliver complex, high-stakes work from its Fremantle base.

The 2025 Finalists for Challenger Organisation of the Year were Bloom Digital, MITP Agency and Perth Is OK!

Campaign Brief WA Boutique Organisation of the Year: Devil Jane

The Boutique Organisation of the Year is a new award for 2026, recognising outstanding work, measurable impact and sustained success from Western Australia’s leading boutique organisations. It celebrates smaller, specialised teams with a full-time staff of 10 or less that consistently punch above their weight. This year’s inaugural winner is Devil Jane, which edged out strong submissions from Word of Mouth and Thirdculture.

In just its first year of operation, Devil Jane has quickly established itself as one of Western Australia’s most impressive boutique creative teams. Formed within St John WA, Devil Jane was created to bring creative thinking closer to the business. In less than 12 months, the six-person team has transformed the organisation’s approach to brand, marketing and communications and has demonstrated the power of proximity, collaboration and clear strategic alignment.

The scale of output alone is remarkable. In 2025, Devil Jane responded to more than 500 briefs across multiple parts of the organisation, spanning first aid training and products, health services, volunteering, industry services, events and recruitment. Despite this volume, the team has maintained a consistently high creative standard, delivering work that is both effective and engaging.

At the heart of Devil Jane’s impact has been a full rebrand of St John WA. This foundational project repositioned the organisation with the platform “Here to Help,” shifting perceptions from a reactive emergency service to a proactive, supportive presence embedded in the community. The rebrand was brought to life through a distinctive campaign featuring documentary-style photography, capturing real and often underrepresented Western Australian communities.

The campaign rolled out signalled a more human and contemporary direction for the brand. Importantly, it delivered results, with increases in brand health, net promoter score and stronger alignment with audience values – demonstrating the effectiveness of a more cohesive and authentic brand approach.

The 2025 Finalists for Boutique Organisation of the Year were Word of Mouth, Thirdculture, Perth Is OK!, bureau42 and Ad Social.

Campaign Brief WA Digital Agency of the Year: The Start

The Digital Agency of the Year award continues to be one of the most sought after awards. The Start put forward an ambitious submission to top all other entries. Runner-up agencies were Social Meteor and Juicebox. Finalist were Bang Digital, Bloom Digital, Bonfire, Living Online Unify and White Chalk Road.

In a year defined by exceptional growth, global recognition and meaningful industry contribution, The Start has taken out the Campaign Brief WA Digital Agency of the Year award.

What sets The Start apart is not just the scale of its achievements, but the balance between commercial success, creative excellence and cultural impact. In 2025, the 16-person Perth-based agency delivered results that rival far larger networks. They proved that a mid-sized independent can compete on the world stage.

The headline achievement was a historic first: The Start became the first Western Australian agency to win a Webby Award, with RTRFM named Best Music Website in the World. Selected from nearly 13,000 entries across more than 70 countries – and ahead of global giants including Apple Music and SoundCloud. The win marked a defining moment not just for the agency, but for WA’s entire digital industry. This global recognition sat alongside outstanding business performance.

The Start recorded 162.5% year-on-year revenue growth, surpassing $3 million for the first time, alongside 184.17% profit growth. Importantly, this growth was underpinned by both new business and deepened client relationships, with 49 new accounts secured across a wide range of sectors and a 94% client retention rate.

The agency’s evolution has also been strategic. Once heavily weighted towards web development, The Start has successfully expanded into a more balanced, integrated offering spanning creative, technology and marketing. The launch of new service lines including AI Development, AI Consultancy and Out-of-Home reflects both forward-thinking leadership and a commitment to meeting the changing needs of clients.

Helen Filov Media Agency of the Year: Carat

Carat Perth’s win as Campaign Brief WA’s Helen Filov Media Agency of the Year is built on a clear and consistent philosophy: Designing for People. In a year defined by economic pressure, procurement scrutiny and structural change across the media landscape, the agency didn’t just hold ground – it accelerated.

At the core of Carat’s performance is a commitment to Kaizen, the philosophy of continuous improvement. Applied across media craft, client relationships and people development, it underpins three defining pillars of the agency’s 2025 performance: commercial momentum, staff stability and industry leadership.

Runner Up for the Helen Filov Media Agency of the Year award was Match & Wood. Finalists were OMD WA, Initiative Perth and 303 MediaHub.

Campaign Brief WA Village of the Year: Bedshed

Bedshed, together with long-term agency partners Rare, Media Forte, Workhouse and Painted Dog Research, has been recognised with the inaugural Campaign Brief WA’s Village of the Year award.

The group has built an impressive ‘village’ model that combines strategic, creative, media, digital and research expertise to drive sustained national growth for the WA-founded retailer while competing strongly against larger East Coast rivals.

The Bedshed’s team win for Campaign Brief WA’s Agency Village of the Year highlights the power of long-term collaboration, with a tightly aligned group of agencies delivering sustained national growth for the Western Australian retailer.

At the heart of the success is a multi-agency “village” model built on trust, continuity and shared ambition. Rather than relying on a single lead agency or fragmented suppliers, Bedshed has cultivated an integrated team spanning strategy, creative, media and digital. This collective approach has allowed each discipline to strengthen the other.

Bedshed has deliberately built an agency ecosystem where each partner owns a distinct discipline, operating with clear responsibilities, shared data and aligned commercial objectives.
