UnLtd calls for industry cyclists to help create jobs for young people at risk

Social purpose organisation UnLtd is calling all cyclists in the Perth advertising industry to join in on a new off-road cycling challenge.

The inaugural 2020 Beverley Heroic ‘Gravel’ event will see participants take on a 168km mixed terrain challenge whilst raising funds to create employment opportunities for WA’s disadvantaged young people facing unimaginable challenges every day.

Participants are asked to raise a minimum of $2,500 with all proceeds going to Dismantle, a local charity providing at-risk youth with the skills, hands-on learning and support they need to overcome the barriers they inherited.

Pat Ryan, CEO of Dismantle said: “Since COVID-19 began, youth unemployment has reached crisis point. Dismantle’s two social enterprises, BikeDr. and ReNew Property Maintenance, are both vehicles for employment and that crucial first foot in the door. The money raised will help us get a brand new ReNew Crew on the road, including trailer, tools and equipment … but most importantly, enabling ReNew to provide 20 additional jobs for young people before the end of 2020.”

The race will take place on Sunday 18 October starting from Beverley heading towards York and Avon Valley. The course includes seven gravel sectors, eight sealed sectors, one King of the Mountain and a breakfast pitstop and is suitable for road bikes.

Carol Morris, General Manager WA at UnLtd commented: “We know our industry has many keen cyclists and this is a fantastic way to combine your passion for cycling with helping tackle youth unemployment in WA. We’re looking forward to seeing many familiar industry faces in their finest lycra in October!”
