STM celebrates Stormie Mills’ landmark AGWA exhibition with Stormie Nights

Perth’s art, business and cultural community came together on Friday night for Stormie Nights, presented by STM, to celebrate the opening of Western Australian artist Stormie Mills’ landmark exhibition at the Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA). Held in STM’s 21st year, the evening underlined the magazine’s place at the heart of the State’s cultural life.

Presented by AGWA, All the secrets are buried between the oceans and the mountains is the first solo exhibition by Stormie Mills to be held at an Australian state gallery. Showcasing a significant new body of work alongside pieces drawn from across his career, it reflects four decades of the artist’s distinctive practice, spanning the streets of Perth to the international stage. His works explore themes of isolation and connection, tenderness and resilience, and the shared human condition through his unmistakable visual language.

Hosted by Eskimo Joe frontman Kav Temperley, guests enjoyed cocktails and canapés and an exclusive first viewing of the exhibition, each taking home a limited-edition STM tote bag designed by Stormie Mills to mark the occasion. The evening followed STM’s recent cover story celebrating the artist, the latest chapter in the magazine’s long association with his work.
