Seven West Media launches FLASHPOINT – A NEW PROGRAM ADDRESSING THE BIG ISSUES THAT AFFECT WEST AUSTRALIANS 9.30 pm tonight

Flashpoint is the exciting new panel program bringing issues that affect West Australians to the forefront every week.

This 30-minute locally produced program premieres tonight at 9.30pm on Seven. Hosted by journalist Tim McMillan (pictured left), Flashpoint is about demanding change, fixing injustice and cutting red tape.

Flashpoint Executive Producer, Sandra Di Girolamo said: “It will allow our guests to explain their opinions in detail and give them a forum to talk openly.”

Tim McMillan said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the Seven West Media team and am especially proud to be hosting this truly unique program for WA.

“Flashpoint is an opportunity to go well beyond the headlines and hold our State’s decision makers accountable. I expect the calibre and passion of our guests will lead to some robust yet informative debates, I can’t wait,” he said.

Harnessing the power of 7NEWS and The West Australian, each episode will feature a new panel consisting of politicians, business and community leaders from around WA, coming together to set the news agenda for the week.

It won’t all be serious business, comedian Peter Rowsthorn (pictured right) will join the team each week adding his quirky and funny take on events and The West Australian cartoonist Dean Alston will draw his take on the episode.

West Australian Newspapers Senior Editor Anthony De Ceglie said he was excited about partnering with 7NEWS on the show.

“Our reporters, our readers and our coverage the next day will ensure Flashpoint doesn’t just delve into the matters that affect people in this state, but also looks at solutions and presents answers too,” he said.

Flashpoint will premiere across WA tonight at 9.30pm on Seven.
