Nova retains #1 overall and 96FM moves up to #2 in latest GFK Perth Radio Survey 7, 2021

Nova 93.7 has held on to the #1 overall position in the latest GFK Radio Survey 7 released this morning. Stela Media’s Marianne Stelmach, who has over two decades of radio industry experience, takes a closer look at the results of the latest ratings period.

 

Nova remains steady retaining #1 overall and 96FM moves into #2 position just slightly ahead of Mix 94.5. Breakfast lifts at 6IX, 6PR and 92.9 Triple M!

#1 Overall – Nova
#1 Breakfast – Nova’s Nathan, Nat & Shaun
#1 Drive – Nova’s Kate, Tim & Joel

Nova has retained their #1 overall position for the sixth time this year with 561,000 listeners. Nathan, Nat & Shaun are still dominating Breakfast as well as Kate, Tim & Joel remaining #1 in Drive. Nova are also #1 in the 10 to 17, 18 to 24, 25 to 39 and 40 to 54 demographics.

96FM has moved up into #2 position and are #1 in the 55 to 64 demographic. They are also #1 with Smiley in Mornings and have a new record with their 450,000 listeners.

Mix 94.5 has moved to #3 position after being #1 for the first time this year last survey. Pete, Matt & Kymba have remained the #2 Breakfast Show. Mix 94.5 are also equal #1 with Nova in the Afternoons, and overall the station still has a strong cume of 488,000 listeners.

6PR has remained in #4 posiiton and has seen strong growth across all shifts. Oli Peterson had the biggest increase of 1.8% in his Drive Show. Gareth Parker is starting to close the gap between his #4 Breakfast and 96FM’s #3 Breakfast Show.

92.9 Triple M had no movement in share overall and are still #5, just above 6IX. The Breakfast and Drive Shows had slight increases. Overall cume increased 13,000.

6IX had a slight increase overall and remain #6. Blackers had a strong increase in Breakfast and so did Burgo on weekends. 6IX are now the #5 weekend station just taking over 92.9 Triple M.

6IX – 5.3% (0.2% Increase)

Mix 94.5’s Pete, Matt & Kymba – 10.9% (1.0% Decrease)
96FM’s The Bunch with Clairsy & Lisa – 9.5% (2.2% Decrease)
6PR’s Gareth Parker – 9.3% (0.9% Increase)
92.9 Triple M with Basil, Xav & Jenna – 5.8% (0.7% Increase)
6IX’s Ian Blackley – 5.1% (0.7% Increase)

Cume Audience:

Good to see there was an overall increase of listeners across all commercial stations. Nova have maintained the highest cume with the biggest increase of 13,000, shared with 92.9 Triple M. Mix 94.5 remain the second biggest cume audience.

Survey 7, 2021 was conducted by GFK for Commercial Radio Australia from August 15th to September 18th and September 26th to October 30th. There were no lockdowns in this time but the consistency of a few different border closures within some of the States. Survey 8, 2021 results are due Tuesday 14th December.
