Nova 93.7 has jumped to #1 in the eagerly anticipated GfK Radio Survey 6, 2020 – the first since April – released today.

Survey 2 released in April showed a fierce three-way contest for top spot, with Mix 94.5 on 12.6% P10+ Share and Nova and 96FM on 12.0%.

This latest survey shows it’s still a hyper-competitive race, with Nova 93.7 rising +0.9% to 12.9% , followed by Mix 94.5 on 12.7% and 96FM on 12.0%.

#4 hit92.9 was the only commercial station  to lose Share P10+, slipping -1.4% to 8.7%, just ahead of 6PR on 8.5% (+1.0) with 6IX on 5.3% (+0.8).

Nova 93.7’s result was helped by a massive 31.1% Share of P10-17 but it also had the leading commercial Shares in P18-24 (17.4%) and P25-39 (18.6%).

In Breakfast, Nova 93.7’s Nathan, Nat and Shaun held their #1 spot, gaining +0.6% to14.1%, with Mix94.5’s Clairsy, Matt & Kymba #2 on 12.4% (+1.8%).

It was a good result for 6PR’s Basil Zempilas and Steve Mills, coming in #3 with 11.2% (+2.2%), leap-frogging 96FMs Botica’s Bunch who slipped to #4 with a 10.7% (-0.2) Share.

All commercial stations except hit92.9 also recorded increases in P10+ Cumulative Audience, with Nova 93.7 recording the biggest  Cume of 590,000.

Demonstrating just how competitive the market is, Nova 93.7, Mix94.5 and 96FM all recorded Average Audiences of 28,000 (P10+).

Nova’s Smooth was the top commercial DAB+ station with P10+ Cumulative Audience of 32,000 but it was pipped overall by the ABC’s triplej unearthed which more than tripled its audience from 11,000 in Survey 2 to 35,000 in Survey 6.

This is the first survey release for five months, with Commercial Radio Australia cancelling Surveys 3, 4 and 5 due to Government restrictions related to COVID-19. As such, this survey is a ‘stand-alone’ in that there is no carry over or rolling from the previous survey as is usually the case.
