Nova 93.7 has consolidated its position as Perth’s #1 station with a comprehensive performance in GfK Radio Survey 5 2019 released today.

Nova’s Share P10+ Share was up + 0.3 to 14.4%, while mix94.5 slipped -0.4 to 11.7%. Nova’s overall position was helped by a monstrous 35.7% Share of 10-17s. It also gained +4.0 to 23.3% in 18-24s and +1.4 to 23.3% in 25-39s, making it the dominant under-40 station.

Mix94.5’s performance was highlighted by a +1.5 gain to 14.4% in its heartland P40-54 demo, however it was knocked off the #1 spot by a rejuvenated 96fm, which had a huge +5.2% gain to 16.1% Share.

96fm is clearly targeting mix94.5’s 40-plus audience, a battle which will be one to watch over the remaining surveys this year.

96fm also had a 3.0% gain to 10.7% P10+ and the #3 position overall. It’s a strong start for its Real Music positioning and the new team led by Gary Roberts.

Hit92.9 had the slightest -0.1% dip to 9.0% P10+ but was buoyed by a +4.8% gain to 17.2% Share of its key P18-24 demo.

AM stations 6PR and 6iX were relatively stable on 7.7% and 5.1% respectively for P10+.

In Breakfast, Nova 93.7’s Nathan, Nat and Shaun increased +1.3 to 15.5% and opened up a 4.1% gap on rivals Clairsy, Matt and Kymba, who increased 0.1 to 11.4%.

6PR’s Basil Zempilas and Steve Mills moved back into double-figures with a 0.8% gain to 10.3%

96fm’s Botica’s Bunch gained 1.3% to 8.4% but still trailed all other Commercial Breakfasts apart from 6iX, which was steady on 4.5%.

Unusually, all Commercial stations increased or held their Breakfast session shares from S4/2019.

As well as Breakfast, Nova had a comfortable lead in all Sessions across the week but again, 96fm was the big mover with 3+% gains across all Sessions other than Breakfast.

Nova had the biggest Cumulative Audience P10+ with 569,000 and the biggest Average Audience with 31,000.

The Nova-owned SmoothFM was the top ranked DAB+ digital station with P10+ Cumulative Audience of 44,000 followed by SCA’s Oldskool Hits on 38,000.
