Nova 93.7 bounces back to #1 overall in Survey 6, 2021

Nova returns to the top at #1 position with Mix 94.5 back to #2, followed closely by 96FM. Stela Media’s Marianne Stelmach, who has over two decades of radio industry experience, takes a closer look at the results of today’s GFK Radio Survey 6, 2021.

Nova has regained their #1 position for the fifth time this year even without any movement in their share percentages this survey. They are also #1 for All People 25 to 54. Nathan, Nat & Shaun are still dominating with their Breakfast show taking the #1 position. Despite a dip, Nova’s Drive Show with Kate, Tim & Joel have also retained their #1 position in Perth.

#1 Overall – Nova
#1 Breakfast – Nova’s Nathan, Nat & Shaun
#1 Drive – Nova’s Kate, Tim & Joel

Mix has slipped back to #2 position followed really closely by 96FM. Mix’s breakfast show with Pete, Matt & Kymba have maintained their #2 position even after a decrease in their share. Mix’s national Drive Show with Carrie Bickmore & Tommy Little also stayed in the #2 position. Mix has also maintained their #1 position in the Mornings and Afternoons.

96FM are continuing to bounce back with their overall share and their biggest audience growth in their 41 year history. Their Breakfast Show with Dean Clairs & Lisa Shaw has seen it’s highest share so far and has kept them in third position. 96FM are also #1 for all people 18 to 24 and 55 to 64 year olds.

6PR has stayed in the #4 position with a small dip across their sessions with the exception of Todd Johnson in Evenings having an increase of 0.8%. It has maintained it’s #1 position with all people 65+.

Triple M are now sitting back in the #5 position after being equal #6 in the last survey. The Breakfast Show with Basil, Xav & Jenna has been struggling to increase their audience numbers. The station’s strongest demo is 18 to 24 year olds where it had a strong increase of 1.5 points.

6IX has lost their momentum after moving up 2.4 points over the previous two surveys and had a dip of 1.5 points taking it to #6 position.

It will be interesting to see if 6IX and 6PR end up on the FM Band in 2022, which could really shake things up.
