Nine’s The Garden Gurus returns for 40th series

Australia’s longest running gardening program, The Garden Gurus, returns for its milestone 40th series this Saturday at 4.30pm on Nine.

Hosted by Trevor Cochrane, together with Bonnie-Marie Hibbs and Nigel Ruck (formerly Backyard Blitz), and renowned Perth horticulturists Sue McDougall (radio 6PR) and Neville Passmore (formerly ABC’s Gardening Australia), The Garden Gurus team are back to inspire green thumbs across the country.

“It’s hard to believe we have produced a mammoth 40 series of The Garden Gurus, and it’s truly humbling to know viewers have welcomed us into their homes for the last 20 years,” said Cochrane.

“Back when we premiered in 2002, my team and I were determined to showcase comprehensive horticultural tips and advice from leading experts to help gardeners both young and old excel in their gardens. So, it is with great pride to know that as well as Australia, our previous series are also regularly broadcast internationally in 14 languages to 86 countries.

“Viewers rely on us and we continue to deliver. This trust has ensured our longevity in the industry and it’s a privilege to bring viewers this milestone series.”

Each half-hour episode will entertain, educate and inspire – from planting seasonal blooms and enriching your soil for a bountiful crop to choosing hardy backyard plants to withstand tough conditions, viewers will be well-equipped with the know-how to take on any horticultural challenge with confidence.

There will be a special trip down memory lane in the new series, looking back at the program’s highlights and presenters over the last two decades.

After each weekly episode, The Garden Gurus Facebook page will also give viewers the unique opportunity to interact virtually with a Garden Guru and obtain instant answers to their gardening questions via a video stream.

The Garden Gurus’ milestone 40th series is produced by Guru Productions for Nine.
