Nine Perth partners with Minerva Network to drive female leadership on and off the field
Nine Perth joined forces with the Minerva Network on Monday to host an exclusive industry event at its CBD studios, exploring how elite sporting performance translates into executive success.
Aligned with Nine’s role as the official broadcast home of the Olympic and Paralympic Games through to Brisbane 2032, the morning connected elite sportswomen with corporate leaders to support career transitions beyond sport.
The event kicked off with a behind-the-scenes tour of Nine hosted by 9News Perth weekend sport presenter Alicia Molik and sports presenter Paddy Sweeney, followed by a corporate networking session.
A featured panel brought together Molik (a two-time Grand Slam doubles champion and Olympic Bronze Medallist), Christina Matthews AM (President of the Australian Cricketers Association, former WA Cricket CEO, and inaugural Minerva WA Chapter Lead) and Caitlin Bassett (World Champion netball legend and corporate leader). The panel focused on adapting high-performance athletic skills, such as strategic agility, resilience, and pressure management, into effective boardroom leadership.
Attended by prominent figures including Priya Cooper OAM (Minerva Network), Di Bain (Chair of Tourism WA), and Minerva WA Co-Chapter Chairs Angie Bain and Suzanna Ardagh AM, the event highlighted Minerva’s broader mission supporting over 1,100 athletes with more than 480 executive mentors nationwide.
For Nine, the partnership reinforces a deep commitment to women’s sport, backing up major broadcast rights across the NRLW, WNBL and Tennis Grand Slams alongside a five-year deal with Netball WA to champion female athletes from grassroots competition to executive careers.
