#MeetTheMedia interest stronger than ever
The Perth edition of #MeetTheMedia was held on Tuesday, delivering another strong event to a sold-out audience at AIM WA.
The media line-up featured leading voices across radio, television, print and online, while attendees represented a broad cross-section of business, government and the social enterprise sector.
ABC’s Oliver Peterson described the room as the best group of experts he had seen in his 11 years of involvement with #MeetTheMedia.
The conversation covered the changing media landscape, the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence, the challenge of cutting through an increasingly crowded news cycle, and, importantly, what actually makes a good story.
The media were generous with their insights, sharing practical advice on what gets their attention, what turns them off, and how experts, brands and organisations can give themselves a better chance of being heard.
“This event is never about a handout or a free kick for those attending #MeetTheMedia,” said Nic Hayes, founder of Media Stable and MC of #MeetTheMedia.
“It is about understanding the media cycle, knowing the people responsible for driving it and learning how to be more than just another media release landing in an inbox.
“When you understand what the media want, and what they expect from you, you are in a much stronger position to deliver stories that are relevant to their audiences. Audience is everything.”
The #MeetTheMedia national series now heads to Melbourne and Sydney in October before wrapping up in Adelaide in November.
