Lessons from tech legends launched on West Tech + platform powered by Ammo Marketing

A new video series with insights from venture capital icons such as Bill Tai has been launched on West Tech Fest’s West Tech + powered by Ammo Marketing.

Each video is a short elevator pitch packed with advice and wisdom from leading venture capitalists from Australia and around the world.

Angel investor Bill Tai, one of the key backers of unicorn Canva, shares some of his tips for startups.

“What I look for in an investment is somebody that can be a driving force that can help unlock value in front of a structural change in a market that is big and can touch the world,” he says.

The West Tech + online platform was born out of the highly successful West Tech Fest, which celebrates Australia’s startup ecosystem by showcasing innovation, investment and entrepreneurship.

The new online platform expands the Perth-based festival to a wider audience and is packed with video, podcast and written content exploring everything from founders’ journeys and their backstories, to marketing advice and the latest startup news.

Rohan McDougall one of the original Co-Founders of West Tech Fest said the platform gives the startup ecosystem a chance to engage with the brand outside of their annual flagship event.

“West Tech Fest has a ten-year track record of connecting startups and investors to scale tech-based businesses in Australia and beyond. Through our partnership with Ammo, we’ve expanded on this commitment by investing in our new digital platform West Tech + to continue to promote connection outside the core festival in December. The latest series we’re launching today provides founders with insights on how they can engage with Australia’s largest VC funds, who might otherwise be out of reach.”

Ammo Marketing teamed up with West Tech Fest and video creation studio TerraceLoft to build the platform.

Ammo general manager Jack Hallam says the new platform is an invaluable resource for the startup sector.

Hallam added: “We wanted to create something new for the community, but also respect all of the great coverage that had come before us.”

“We hope that capturing these unique stories can inspire all of us to take action, keep going but most importantly support each other in our next phase of growth as a community.”

West Tech + is also a family affair: Hallam’s younger brother Lewis Hallam is a founder of TerraceLoft which produces the video content for the online platform.

The West Tech Fest + Investor Elevator Pitch series is available to watch now via the West Tech Fest website. New episodes will drop weekly from March 29.
