Joe Purdy signs on with Hearts & Science WA to lead the media agency
As reported yesterday, Hearts & Science WA has hired Joe Purdy to lead the media agency. Purdy joins from a 5 year stint at Carat where he was in the media director role. He replaces Molly Trumble who is joining Initiative.
Purdy joins Hearts & Science WA as the business continues to grow with the recent addition of Dankz to its client roster.
Rare & Rare Connect, Managing Director Callum Mackenzie said: “The Hearts business has enjoyed an extremely successful establishment period which Molly has played a massive role in. The team delivers a unique approach for its clients with exceptionally high levels of strategic thinking and service. We are sad to see Molly leave at this exciting juncture, but after many years with Omnicom the timing is right for her to take on a different challenge as we bring on a new leader to further enhance what has been achieved and continue the success Rare and all H&S WA clients have enjoyed”.
Marketforce Group CEO Adam Marshall also welcomed Purdy and paid tribute to Trumble: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Molly for all her hard work in building the H&S WA business. Molly has done a tremendous job and we wish her every success into the future. Joe Purdy is an exceptionally talented media operator and I am delighted he is taking on the leadership of the agency. This is a great opportunity for Joe to develop the team and continue the upwards trajectory of the business”.
Said Purdy: “Bringing creative and media together to deliver business outcomes for clients is at the top of our agenda and I’m very excited to join the team at Hearts and Science and Rare to make this a reality.”

Both great people doing a good job. But I am confused with the companies and quotes – who do they actually work for?
This might help explain it: https://wa.campaignbrief.com/rare-launches-media-agency-of-the-future/
Thanks for the link @Janus. Makes sense almost. Where does Marketforce fit in though? Does Joe Purdy now work for Paul Clayton and Emma Cooper?
Great blazer. Where did you buy it?
Emma and Paul have since left the business. So Joe works for a combination of Adam Marshall and Callum Mackenzie now.
Adam is involved as he’s the CEO of Marketforce (which owns OMD in the WA market), which is owned by the Clemenger group, which is also partly owned by or related to Omnicom. Hearts & Science nationally is also part of Omnicom.
So in a round about way they are all part of the Omnicom group, however in reality Rare Connect Hearts & Science is simply a JV between Rare and Marketforce, utilizing the rights to the names of National Omnicom brands.
What’s in a name? Apparently a lot in this instance.
@Janus – depends upon what day of the week it is.
