IN:WA reaches its 20 member goal for 2023
2023 has been a year of sustained growth for the independent community of IN:WA, the organisation recently achieving its goal of 20 members, with Start Digital and The Cut coming onboard. This member milestone now sees IN:WA representing over 300 WA-based employees in the creative communications industry.
IN:WA Interim Chair, Jeff Champtaloup, highlights the driving force behind IN:WA’s success in 2023: “It was always going to be a big ask to double the membership base within 12 months. What really accelerated things, however, was the way our member base has taken it upon themselves to champion the vision of IN:WA.”
Neil Mason, Director of Start Digital, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be an all WA team and truly value the West Australian creative community. We’re excited by the never ending changes and opportunities within our industry, and are honoured to be a part of an organisation that supports WA talent and includes many of our long admired peers.”
Ben De Jonge, Founding Director of The Cut, said: “Scott and I started The Cut in 2009 and our focus has always been on WA. In so many ways, this is a parochial state, and a proud one. We feel that should follow through to WA businesses choosing WA partners. The great people and the quality of work is right here in our state and it’s great to see IN:WA launching and growing to push that concept.”
While the year comes to an end, there is still a whole lot more in the pipeline to see out 2023 and kick start 2024.
The Annual General Meeting will take place on Friday 8 December with IN:WA board members to be voted in for the next term. Then, with the formalities over for the year, members are invited to the annual Christmas lunch on Tuesday 12 November. IN:WA will regroup in 2024 with the third Owners + Leaders Assembly, to be held in February at Lawson Flats. For those interested in attending one of IN:WA’s popular panel discussions, a schedule of these event dates will be released in the new year.

This looks to be the largest industry group operating in WA. Great to see the success and growth so far. Big future ahead.
It’s so exciting to see how this organisation has grown from a kernel of an idea back in late 2020. It demonstrates the need for a strong network and voice for the WA independent sector. Congrats IN:WA!
