Last Thursday, over 100 people across Perth adland swapped their skinny jeans to cricket whites at the inaugural Big Clash Perth industry cricket tournament.
Raising funds for UnLtd, the industry’s social purpose organisation, the event saw Agencies go head to head with Media Owners.
The women’s game kicked off the day and despite many never having played cricket before, it was a highly competitive game that was neck to neck up to the very last minute. At the end, it was Erin Pitcher from Initiative who nudged the Agency team into first place with five balls to spare.
The men’s game was fierce and fast from the start with nobody holding back. After a tight game, it was Media Owners, captained by Martin Atanassov from Nine Network, who got to lift the inaugural trophy after beating the agencies with an impressive 135 runs off 15 overs.
The Players of the Day were Meave Daniels from NewsCorp and Ryan McMillan from oOh!media, who single-handedly delivered 31 runs.
The day was kindly sponsored by JCDecaux, Nine Radio and NewsCorp and umpired by Peter Vlahos from Nine Radio and Guy Turner from Seven West Media, who provided world-class umpiring with their passion, commentary and command.
UnLtd Big Clash started in Sydney six years ago and has since expanded to Melbourne and Perth. Since its start, it has raised over $500,000 for children and young people at risk.
Chris Freel, CEO of UnLtd commented: “It was fantastic to bring Big Clash to Perth and bring the industry together to do good. Like most companies, we have postponed our future events but we are looking forward to bringing the Perth market together again as soon as it’s safe to do so. Thank you everyone who attended and we hope you stay safe in these unprecedented times.”
