Full house at Perth’s annual #MeetTheMedia

On Tuesday 9th of May at AIM WA the annual #MeetTheMedia program was delivered to a full house of communicators, business owners, brands and not-for-profits who were keen to make a connection with the media. The panel discussions were lively and valuable for attendees there to understand what the media is looking for in a story, how to connect, deliver and follow-up.

The media a cross section of local print, television, radio, and online media were there to educate and relay back to an engaged audience what their days look like, the stories they work with and what gets their attention.

Attendees got to hear from and engage with:
Jerrie Demasi – Chief Crime Editor, 9 News Perth
Gemma Varone – Chief of Staff, 7 News Perth
Michele Gelle – Executive Producer, Perth Live, 6PR Drive
Neil Smith – Chief of Staff, 10 News First
Sean Cowan – Managing Editor, Business News
Hayley Sorenson – Opinion Editor, The West Australian
Simone Luker – Executive Producer, 9 News WA First 5pm
Christine Layton – Afternoon Show Presenter, ABC Radio

“When you have both media and experts in tune with each other and understand what each other is looking for then both parties get a better outcome” Says Nic Hayes, Managing Director of Media Stable and host of #MeetTheMedia. “The media is always moving and evolving and sometimes business and communicators aren’t pitching the way the media needs it today, this event rectifies that.”

This year with the support of AIM WA, Medianet, and the only Australian owned media monitoring agency MyMedia the room filled very quickly with key communicators and experts that are keen to understand the media cycle.
