96fm takes #1 spot in Perth Radio Survey 7 2020

96fm has edged ahead of its rivals to take the #1 title in GfK Radio Survey 7, 2020 released today.

 

Survey 6 underlined the closeness of the three-way contest for top spot, with Nova 93.7 on 12.9%, Mix 94.5 on 12.7% P10+ Share and 96FM on 12.6%.

In this latest survey, 96fm has gone past it rivals to record a 13.2% Share , with Nova 93.7 slipping -0.4% to 12.5% ,and Mix 94.5 on 12.0% (-0.7).

#4 hit92.9 maintained its Share P10+ at 8.7%,  a whisker ahead of 6PR on 8.6% (+0.1), with 6IX dropping back to 4.5% (-0.8).

It’s a pleasing result for 96fm, which had mounted a big promotional push around the station’s 40th birthday. It recorded rises in key demos from 25-64 and had the leading commercial Shares in its heartland P40-54 (15.7%) and P55-64 (15.2%) demos.

Managing Director Gary Roberts said, “96FM now has a fabulous on air team led by Botica’s Bunch for Breakfast and daytime number ones with Smiley and Russell, and Will & Woody number two overall in Drive. In just eight surveys the station has gone from a 7.7% to 13.2%, which is an outstanding achievement for the entire team and a fabulous result to celebrate in our 40th year.”

In Breakfast, Nova 93.7’s Nathan, Nat and Shaun held their #1 spot with 14.0%, ahead of 6PR’s Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas & Steve Mills and Mix94.5’s Clairsy, Matt & Kymba equal #2 with 11.1% each.

Surprisingly, 96fm’s Botica’s Bunch was down again, -0.8 to a 9.9% Share.

Despite a slight loss of -7,000, Nova 93.7 easily had the biggest P10+ Cumulative Audience with 583,000 listeners – almost 100,000 more than next best mix94.5 with 486,000.

Once again, Average Audience figures demonstrate the competitiveness of the market , with 96fm recording 28,000, Nova 93.7 recording 27,000 and Mix94.5 recording 26,000 (P10+).

SCA’s HIT OldSkool was the top DAB+ station with P10+ Cumulative Audience of 36,000, just ahead of Nova’s SmoothFM with 32,000.
