Clockwork Films host a playdate with Perth’s best at the Production Playground ’24

Every chair was filled last night at Cinemachine in West Perth, for the second run of the popular Production Playground workshop. Participants represented a broad range of Perth agencies and roles within their agencies. Over a beer and a bite last night Clockwork Films’ Executive Producer Katie Trew and Director/DOP Mikey Hamer helped arm creatives and suits alike on how to get the best from their production budgets and to help make their creative shine on screen. The night was hosted by Trew and Hamer.

Trew said: “Mikey Hamer and I could talk production for days, so we were thrilled to have so many agency folks eager to learn. We had a really broad range of roles within the industry show up to play along. Our intention with these sessions is to help art directors and copywriters make their creative shine. With a better understanding of the production processes, they are able stay in control of those ideas, and help navigate their own clients through the production phases.”

Hamer said: “It’s really important to provide these safe spaces for learning, especially for those new to the industry. A place to voice all those burning questions about a process thats knew to them. We love that we can help equip these young creators with the knowledge they need. Western Australian commercial content deserves to the up there with the best in the world.”

Rare’s ECD, Brett Wheeler, added: “This is a great initiative and very well run. Those from my team that attended got a lot from it. Increasing everyone’s knowledge at Rare of the production process can only help deliver a better product for our clients.”
