Bonfire’s Hayley Boneham tackles Herdy’s Frontyard Ultra for Lionheart Camp for Kids

As the Head of Marketing at Bonfire, Hayley Boneham is no stranger to pushing herself to new heights. But her latest challenge, Herdy’s Frontyard Ultra, is a true test of endurance, both physically and mentally. The race, which takes place on March 17th at Herdsman Lake, sees runners tackle a 6.7km loop, one lap every hour on the hour, until the last person standing. With an Australian record being set in 2021 and over 300 participants returning this year to see if they can break it, the event has become a phenomenon in the running community.

But for Boneham, there’s more at stake than just a personal best. She’s running to raise money for Lionheart Camp for Kids, a charity that provides grief support for children who have lost a parent or sibling. Unfortunately, 1 in 20 Australian children experience this type of loss, with little support available to them. Lionheart Camp for Kids supports children through bereavement programs and camps, which give children the opportunity to grieve their loss and equip them with the tools and skills they need to navigate life.

“I’m honored to be able to use my passion for running to support such an important cause,” says Boneham. “When I’m tired, sore, and running around Herdsman Lake in the dark, I’ll be reminded of these kids and the amazing work the team at Lionheart Camp for Kids are doing!”

Lionheart Founder & CEO, Shelly Skinner, says: “Lionheart is so grateful to Hayley for recognising that many children experience grief after the death of a loved one and that it is vital to their long term mental & physical health that they have access to the bereavement support they need. The money Hayley raises will help us reach more children in WA and ensure that no child should grieve alone. We wish her all the best in this incredibly challenging run!”
