Barry Walker elevated to Head of Strategy at Wunderman Thompson Perth

Wunderman Thompson Australia has announced the promotion of Barry Walker to Head of Strategy of its Perth office.

A WPP Fellowship alumni, Walker began his journey as a strategist with independent Perth based agency, Meerkats – now Wunderman Thompson Perth. Working internally with companies across operations, c-suite and board level, Walker’s focus at the agency has centred on helping organisations better define their reason for being, from the ground up.

His passion for unearthing true human motivation has taken him from Perth to London, New York and back again working with the likes of KPMG, Macy’s, Unilever, Campari and Kellogg’s along the way.

Walker said: “I like to get behind the curtain of a company to unearth its true source, for me and the companies I get to work with, there’s nothing more motivating.”

Melanie Wiese, National Chief Strategy Officer said the appointment of Barry was a natural move as the agency grows into purpose and sustainability consulting: “The vision for the strategy practice at Wunderman Thompson is for a really diverse set of skills united by a consistent, national methodology. Barry was not only the natural choice as the Strategy lead for Perth, but his strong passion for human motivation and true organisational purpose is a skill we tap into nationally.”

The news comes as Jill Manester is appointed Melbourne’s Head of Strategy and Roma Singhal joins Sydney as Strategy Director.

Wiese concluded: “Our job is to let these super smart and motivated people unleash their expertise on ambitious client problems and empower them to have an inspiring point of view.”
