Artists descend on Nine Perth ahead of Plein Air Down Under Festival

Yesterday afternoon, a squad of talented local artists, including renowned artist Leon Holmes, gathered at Nine Perth in the CBD ahead of the Plein Air Down Under Festival launching in Mandurah this weekend.

The artists set up their easels in Nine Plaza and wowed staff and peak hour commuters along St Georges Terrace, as they produced extraordinary outdoor masterpieces including interpretations of the nearby Barracks Arch.

Holmes, positioned outside the 9News studio, also wowed viewers and spectators with his impromptu painting of presenter Monika Kos poised at the 9News desk during the 5.00 bulletin.

Later, staff and clients attempted brush to canvas with an interactive workshop hosted by artist Cass Gartner.

Nine Perth continues to support local talent and the local community, with Plein Air Down Under (WA’s largest outdoor painting festival) held around Mandurah’s town centre, cultural precinct and Pinjarra this long weekend.
