AdSchool raises the bar in professional excellence with refreshed curriculum for 2024

AdSchool is gearing up for another stellar year of academic excellence, with an all-star teaching faculty and a refreshed curriculum designed to help advertising professionals advance their careers.

Run by Advertising Council Australia (ACA), AdSchool has been the backbone of the industry for more than 40 years, providing quality education across core disciplines including account management, strategy, manager fundamentals and experience design.

Says Tony Hale, CEO, ACA: “AdSchool is the benchmark by which we set and embed the industry’s professional standards and define career pathways for our people.

“As we continue to focus on building Australian advertising’s profile and skills, it’s vital that agencies invest in quality training programs that are taught by our industry’s best practitioners and add value for employees, agencies, and clients.”

A recent AdSchool survey of 100 advertising professionals revealed a strong appetite for upholding training standards across the sector.

Of the people who have approved or recommended a course, 74% were motivated by the desire to help improve the standard of their agency’s work. 52% of those who participated in a course did so to help achieve their own development goals. The most common reasons for taking part as a facilitator or lecturer were to help up-and-coming talent (63%) and develop their own skills, such as leadership and mentorship (57%).

This year’s AdSchool’s teaching faculty includes an impressive lineup of industry figureheads who will oversee courses in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and online.

They include Simon Wassef, National Chief Strategy and Experience Officer at Clemenger BBDO (Advanced Strategic Planning), Edward Hughes, Client Services Director at BMF Australia (Advanced Account Management), Julie Dormand, Managing Director at The Works, part of Capgemini (Manager Fundamentals), Zac Martin and Virginia Pracht, Planning Director and Co-Head of Strategy at TBWA Melbourne, and Jez Reilly, Director of Strategy at Rare (Core Strategic Planning).

A host of industry legends, including Christina Aventi, Ant Keogh, Dave Hartmann, Chiquita King, and Chris Howatson, will deliver weekly lectures.
