Advertising Council Australia has recently been conducting a number of university presentations in-person and online in Perth to help promote advertising as a career of choice and to guide students to the best pathways to “Break into the Exciting World of Advertising”.
ACA WA State Manager Melissa Vella (pictured above) kicked off the roadshow with the Curtin “Careers for Tomorrow” festival in August and since then has conducted a number of presentations to Curtin; ECU; North Metro TAFE and UWA.
Whilst the main audience has been business/marketing/communications students, the aim has been to capture the hearts and minds of students from as many degree courses in a bid to bring their diversity of thought and talent into the ad industry.
UWA Employer Engagement Consultant & Career Mentor Link Program Coordinator Ryan Whiddett (pictured) said: “Melissa delivered an exceptional presentation inspiring students interested in a career in advertising to learn more and shared valuable insights into the labour market, the roles within an agency and ultimately motivated students to continue on their paths. Her presentation received very positive feedback by students and the recording has since been watched by many students”.
