Creative Glue: The Emergence Specials Episode 6 Features Ben Akers, Co-Founder of Talk Club
In Episode 6 of Creative Glue: The Emergence Specials, host Scott Robinson chats with Ben Akers, a filmmaker, problem solver, and mental health campaigner who is making waves with his innovative approaches to mental health advocacy.
As the co-CEO and Co-Founder of the Male Mental Health Charity Talk Club, Akers’ mission was sparked by a personal tragedy – the loss of his best friend to suicide. This life-altering event, combined with the inspiration and courage he found at the Emergence Festival in 2014, propelled Akers to use his creative talents for a greater cause.
In this episode, listeners will hear how Emergence has been and continues to be a catalyst for positive change, inspiring creatives worldwide to make a difference. Akers will share his journey from agency CD, to directing award-winning documentaries on mental health. His work includes the changementary “Steve,” which takes a positive look at male mental health and led to the formation of Talk Club, a global mental fitness movement.
Tune in to hear Akers’ inspiring story and how creativity can be a powerful tool for good.

I vividly remember sitting down and watching ‘Steve’ at a screening for my agency in the UK, it’s a phenomenal piece of work, albeit one tinged with immense sadness. It’s great to see Talk Club/Ben’s message going Global. If you make time for any inspiration today, this video is the only thing you’ll need.
