303 MullenLowe says farewell to an old friend

303 MullenLowe Perth confirms its 20-year relationship with Edith Cowan University (ECU) will come to an end in early 2023.

René Migliore, Joint Managing Director 303 MullenLowe said: “Winning clients and starting new relationships is always a buzz and one of the great things about this business – equally exciting for client and agency. The other side of that coin is saying goodbye to clients. Last week after a very thorough and fair agency review process, we were advised by ECU that 303 MullenLowe will no longer be its agency partner in 2023.

“After a 20-year relationship, it would be a shame to brush this loss aside and not stop to reflect on the enduring and fruitful partnership we’ve been lucky to build with ECU. Brick by brick, we’ve worked together to build the ECU brand into what it is today. We’ve shown students what the ‘Start of a Great Career’ looks like and encouraged them to ‘Speak for Themselves’. We’ve challenged the university establishment, positioning ECU’s applied approach to teaching and research as ‘How a University Should Be’. And in recent years, we’ve showcased the connection ECU has with the community it’s a part of – a university producing ‘World Ready’ research and graduates.

“With hundreds of campaigns and thousands-upon-thousands of jobs and media bookings now marked ‘complete’, we can all look back with pride on what we’ve been able to accomplish together. And now, as the university is on the precipice of its next great leap – the launch of its City Campus in 2025 – we look forward to witnessing everything it achieves next.”

Richard Berney, ECD, 303 MullenLowe, added: “Our relationship with ECU is not just remarkable because how long it has lasted, but because it was built on a mutual interest in building the ECU brand. ECU is an important institution for Western Australia, they are our egalitarian university. Rather than lifting the few, they have opened their doors for the many and have created profound social impact here, and around the world as a result. We are all so proud to have helped them in this endeavour, and for the enriching journey that I’ve personally enjoyed.”

Julia Turner, Director, Brand and Marketing at ECU, said: “We want to recognise the wonderful 20-year partnership we have had with 303 MullenLowe. In that time, we have worked together to create a strong ECU brand and generate significant demand for our university. We have run so many amazing campaigns during the past 20 years. And as with all ‘marriages’ we’ve had our ups and downs but we have always enjoyed working with the entire team. 303 MullenLowe is an agency of smart, wonderful people who have always remained sharply focussed on building our brand. We greatly appreciate their hard work, commitment and success they’ve generated for ECU.”
