10 Perth entries in contention for top honours at the national Siren Awards for Radio

Perth has 10 finalists in the annual national Siren Awards for Radio. Wunderman Thompson Perth has five finalists, Soundbyte has three finalists and Nova Entertainment’s CREATE and Cue Sound have one each.

The Siren Awards recognise the best radio ad or campaign of 2022, with the winner will be announced at the 18th annual Siren Awards in Sydney on May 5.

Wunderman Thompson Perth’s five finalist are for West Australian Ballet “Dracula Comes to Crown” (3) and Anglicare (2). Crimsafe – Ask Nicely is a finalist for Nova Entertainment’s CREATE.

Ford Ennals, the chief executive officer of Commercial Radio Australia, said: “The Australian radio market is one of the most advanced and dynamic in the world and the creativity on display with this year’s Siren Award finalists is absolutely world class. This is my first experience of the Sirens Awards, and I am incredibly impressed with the outstanding quality of the finalists who have crafted compelling and engaging radio ads to strongly connect with listeners.”

The Siren Awards foster excellence in radio advertising and are judged by the Siren Creative Council, a panel of advertising agency and radio industry experts.

The Gold Siren Award winners will receive a Gold Siren trophy, and two premium tickets for themselves and a pass for their client to the Semi Permanent Festival of Creativity and Design to be held in Sydney in May 2022. Three Silver Sirens will be awarded for the best radio ads across three categories: single, campaign and craft. A Siren Client Award of $1,000 cash will also be presented to the writers of the ad voted the best by a panel of clients.

Perth finalists in the craft category are Soundbyte Studios with three across Anglicare and West Australian Ballet “Dracula Comes to Crown”. Cue Sound is a finalist for Foodbank “The Sound of Hunger”.

M&C Saatchi’s “Ugly, but good for you” campaign for Lilydale/Steggles won last year’s Gold and Silver Siren Awards for best radio campaign. The series of four 60-second workout tracks in the genres of techno, pop, hip hop and rock used catchy beats and humour to convince listeners that turkey is the ultimate lean protein meal.
