WA marketers gather for AMI panel: “Smarter Strategies for Leaner Times”

Last night, the AMI’s “Smarter Strategies for Leaner Times: The In-house Marketer’s Playbook” brought together a sold-out room of WA marketers for a candid, high-energy discussion on what it really takes to “do more with less.”

The panel, led by moderator Paula Connell (Business News), included Kristina Green (HIF Australia), Louisa Ross (Fortescue), and Simone Woodward (Containers for Change WA), who shared practical lessons from the front line of marketing in leaner times.

From finding focus in complexity to knowing when to outsource, building business cases that win the CFO’s confidence, and using data (and AI) without losing the human touch – the discussion was sharp, relatable, and refreshingly real.
• Constraints can sharpen strategy — they make you decide what really matters.
• Business cases aren’t about asking for more; they’re about proving why more is worth it.
• The best creativity comes from clarity — not chaos.
• Marketing’s role has never been more strategic or more cross-functional.

Olga Kozub, AMI WA Chair, said: “A huge thank you to our speakers, moderator, and to our event partners Moore Australia, Liquor Shed, and Nova 93.7 for helping make the night such a success. Special thanks to Doriena Parsons whose commitment and energy helped bring this event to life, and to Charlotte Claudius at Moore Australia for her outstanding support in making it all run seamlessly.

“As we wrap up 2025, we’re proud to see our WA marketing community growing more diverse — with voices from mining, health, not-for-profit, education, and professional services all in one room. That mix of perspectives is exactly what keeps Australian Marketing Institute strong, relevant, and future-focused.

“And this is just the start. 2026 will bring more events, more perspectives, and even bigger conversations.”
