WA footy fans flock to Seven’s record-breaking AFL Grand Final coverage

The Seven Network’s live, free and exclusive coverage of the 2025 AFL Grand Final is the most watched program of 2025, with the match reaching 6.3 million Australians on Seven and 7plus Sport, achieving a total TV audience of 4.18 million.

 

In Western Australia, the match reached 746,000 viewers, with a Total TV audience of 539,000 – the highest since Perth hosted the Grand Final in 2021 and up 11% year-on-year.

The 2025 AFL Grand Final, which saw the Brisbane Lions take the 2025 Premiership Cup over the Geelong Cats, also had a record audience on 7plus Sport, with 985,000 tuning in nationally for the match alone – up 51% on last year. In WA 133,000 viewers streamed the game on 7plus sport.

The Seven Network was the #1 network on Saturday, with the Grand Final, Post-Match Presentations, Pre-Game Entertainment, On the Ground and 7NEWS the five most-watched programs in all people, 16 to 39s, 25 to 54s and grocery shoppers.

In WA, from 6am to 6pm on Saturday, Seven had an 86% commercial national total TV audience share. 7plus was #1 in BVOD on Saturday, with a 91.6% audience share. In live streaming alone, 7plus had a 95.1% share in WA.

The 2025 AFL Grand Final capped off a stellar AFL season on Seven and 7plus Sport. The Finals Series (excluding yesterday’s match) reached 8.7 million people nationally, with the entire season reaching 17.4 million. More than 4.4 million Australians streamed the season on 7plus Sport.

Seven’s Western Australia Sales Director, Damian Hampson, said: “These results cap off a season of strong growth across broadcast and BVOD, giving our partners unrivalled reach and integration with fans nationwide.

“This season we introduced locally produced pre and post-match coverage for West Coast and Fremantle home games, which reached 720,000 viewers across the season and provided valuable local integration opportunities for advertisers.”

Across the AFL home and away and finals series, 2.1 million West Australians watched Seven’s coverage with 565,000 people streaming on 7plus.
