The Western Australia Police Force is looking for ‘People like You’ via new Gatecrasher campaign
The Western Australia Police Force’s Let’s Join Forces brand has launched a major new recruitment campaign, created by Gatecrasher, to help fill the ranks across the State.
“The brief was to develop a platform that would elevate and differentiate the career in a cut-through way,” said Gatecrasher MD Tony Scampoli.
“To inform the development of the campaign, we interviewed and surveyed well over one hundred officers in the WA Police Force. The access we were given to top officers in the force was quite remarkable.”
Gatecrasher Creative Partner, Adam Barker, said: “What we learned through that process is that while policing requires an amazing diversity of people, there is a powerful unifying truth about the role. That policing is fundamentally about people. Whether this means bonding with and trusting the people you work alongside, or understanding and empathising with the people you’re protecting. Police have to be (or learn to be) extremely good ‘people-people’.”
This insight is what led to the campaign theme, ‘Police are looking for people like you’.
The campaign humanises the role of policing and reflects the variety of roles, and duties experienced by police every day.
It is persuasive yet true to the core of what the job entails and it enables people to see the true potential in choosing a career in the WA Police Force.
The logistical challenge involved in pulling the campaign together was a testament to the absolute commitment and professionalism of the client marketing team who had to find over 50 officers to appear in the video, not to mention wrangling the vast inventory including helicopters, boats, cars, drones, robots and the TRG Bearcat.
“We can’t praise the work of film director Ariel Martin enough in bringing the idea to life. All of the police roles were filled with real officers who Ariel managed to get great performances out of. His gift for comedy is evident throughout the commercial.”
“At a time when other law enforcement jurisdictions in Australia and around the world are struggling to attract recruits, we are growing the Western Australia Police Force. The new Let’s Join Forces ‘People Like You’ campaign is the next phase of our continued efforts to recruit the very best people to embark on a rewarding and diverse career with the WA Police Force,” said Western Australia Police Force’s Media and Communications Director, Joey Catanzaro.

This is pretty epic!
More than epic!
I am about to join the police force!
East Coast production people?
What a fun watch! Nice one 🙂
Well done to the Gatecrasher people (and their production partner people). Great energy. And it feels like it’s going to land just right with just the right people.
Well done! Great work GC 🎉
Lovely spot. Nice to see some energy and humour injected into the space. Credit to the client in trusting their agency and chosen director to bring it to life. More of this!
Great job. Taken that platform and ran with it. Agree with Liz H – awesome energy. And the moments of humour work a treat. Bravo, all.
See this is good. great work GC
I love playing hide and seek. 🙈
Why oh why can’t the Perth industry see its way through to using local production companies for work for the WA government?
More State Government and tax payers money going east for what reason? (None)
Pretty disgusting state government or a locally owned agency aren’t supporting local.
Good luck to the industry in general.
Nicely done GC
Thank goodness for this. Heaps of much needed charm.
Huge congratulations Rosh. Fabulous campaign!
Really lovely! Nice work.
I love this ad.
It is exceptional when we join forces with the right people from the right places.
Well done Gatecrasher, work to be proud of.
It will resonate well with WA folk as there is something for everyone.
Defo got me clicking through.
What a campaign!! Awesome work to all involved.
So good on every level.
A joy to watch. Well done to all involved.
Absolute cracker team! Nailed it.
Exceptional work!
Kuddos to the teams involved!
This is very very good. Very good. Entertaining and engaging for sure. It will cut through.
Lovely to see Gatecrasher get their flowers. Terrific stuff Tony, Adam and the gang. The music really elevates it all, too – bravo PandaCandy.
How are WA State Government Campaigns still going to East Coast Production Companies? Pretty sure there’s a few here…
Great looking campaign, packed a lot in without confusing the message.
Would love to know who planned the media?
because government work goes out to tender.
Hilarious! “Would love to know who planned the media?” said no one ever outside of Carat .
If it was Carat, then well done to them! Would it kill this industry to start recognising the hard work that goes into the media plan/buy. Nah it’s just about the creative right?
Dear GC, would you kindly explain, why did East Coast production do this and not a WA-based production company?
Saw this on TV last night and loved every second of it. Well done to the Force for trusting their agency partners – and well done to Gatecrasher for pushing the dial.
