Mix94.5’s Pete & Kymba and other Perthanalities brighten up Perth Children’s Hospital

Mix94.5’s Pete & Kymba were among the ‘Perthanalities’ who brought some star power to PCH last week for the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation’s ‘Kid Takeover’.

Until the end of June, the foundation running is a social media initiative encouraging the Perth public to take a look at the world through a child’s eyes using the hashtag #PCHFKidTakeover.

The Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation is the official and largest fundraiser for Perth Children’s Hospital.

Special guests that visited the ward at PCH included; Mix94.5’s Pete & Kymba, West Coast Eagles co-Captain, Oscar Allen, West Coast Eagles AFLW Coach, Daisy Pearce and Perth Scorchers, Jhye Richardson, Jason Behrendorff and Matt Kelly.

Some of the children that showed the celebs around and shared their brave stories included 14-year-old Kye, who’s been in the hospital for almost a month following a coma from a nasty motorbike accident, Kate, who has recently undergone neurosurgery and Matilda, who has neurofibromatosis and is currently undergoing treatment for a tumour on her spine.

Mix94.5 host, Pete Curulli, said: “Immediately, as soon as you see these kids in the bed, you start picturing your own – knowing how lucky you are that the worst thing you have to worry about with your kids today is whether or not they’ll get to school on time.”

West Coast Eagles co-Captain, Oscar Allen, said: No matter what is happening in our day or anything else we’re going through, even with something like me not playing right now, it gives you a real reality check straight away and you feel bad for being upset about things in your life when they’re just so happy to be here (alive).”

Cricketer, Jason Behrendorff said: “I’ve got two boys and health is just so important for all of us. To have such wonderful nurses and doctors in here at PCH looking after these kids is just amazing.”

West Coast Eagles AFLW Coach, Daisy Pearce, said: “It’s amazing to come in and see the level of care and just how thought out everything is on every single level. It’s been an eye-opener to the amount of resources required to make these kids’ days as good as they can be, so if you can donate please do because it’s a very worthy cause.”

Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO, Carrick Robinson, said: “Being on the frontline of children’s healthcare, we walk the same hallways as kids, families and clinicians – and can see the world first hand from their perspective, which gives PCHF an in-depth understanding of how to make the greatest impact for WA kids, where it counts the most.”
