Soundbyte takes out the Sound Design Award at the 2024 WA Screen Culture Awards

Recently Soundbyte created the Sound Design for an epic World War 1 feature film, Before Dawn, directed by Jordon Prince Wright. With a tiny crew and big ambitions, the team delivered a massive film earning them the Sound Design Award at the 2024 WA Screen Culture Awards.

Soundbyte put together a team of talented sound designers from across Australia with Brad Habib as Sound designer and Colin Graham, Cate Cahill, John Simpson and Tam Glover at its core, Habib was very confident Soundbyte could deliver something on a scale never done in Post sound in Perth before.

Utilisng every local facility available including ABC’s largest sound stage and the Backlot. Soundbyte was able to undertake recording massive loop groups of over 50 real Australian soldiers charging past, getting into epic battles, and digging the never ending trenches, giving Soundbyte a bespoke library of genuine sound design elements.

With the support of Ian Hale, Soundbyte took over the Backlot, bumping in all the required gear to undertake a mix that would truly immerse the audience and deliver an epic cinematic experience.
