She Codes Australia’s Founder Kate Kirwin inspires attendees at latest Grill The Marketer

Kate Kirwin joined The Marketer (Clayton Smith and Carma Levene), and MC Jacqueline Baril on the panel last Thursday, 18 July, to discuss her journey as the Founder of She Codes Australia and WA Young Australian of the year. And true to her brand, she brought the sparkle!

This Grill The Marketer event was an inspiring and honest exploration of changing attitudes and behaviours, and the challenges of being a young Entrepreneur – especially as a woman from regional WA.

Her mission is to create welcoming spaces for women to develop their coding skills, and challenge the perception that all people who code are men in hoodies.

Kirwin told of her support network of women behind the scenes, and of dealing with imposter syndrome.

A full house of agency heads, independent marketers, members of Perth industry organisations, business owners and students gathered on a blustery evening upstairs at The Court to flex their curiosity for the craft, both in a passionate panel discussion and among attendees during the ample networking breaks.

Event attendees were treated to complimentary headshots thanks to Peter Dancewicz from Spoilt Photo Booths. One lucky attendee will be spending an upcoming Saturday creating their own gin at a gin making masterclass thanks to Sin Gin Distillery.

The next Grill The Marketer event is scheduled for the 19th of September and the Grill guest is Josh Edge, Head of Creative at Marketforce.

Expect big ideas and bold thoughts around creativity delivered in his signature style, in an event format where the panel discusses what’s posed by the audience – so anything can happen!
