Rhythm develops a split personality launching end-to-end high quality production services

After a stellar year of diverse projects and new hires in 2021 and 2022, Rhythm has grown enough to formally split its two pillars into separate brands. Rhythm Films offers end-to-end high quality production services for both agencies and direct clients. Rhythm caters for clients and creative partners looking for specialist solutions and a more craft-focused approach to advertising and brand building.

Originally founded by Adam and Gemma Rule as a production house with a creative bent, Rhythm has formalised its creative offering by merging with advertising outfit Bear in Black, headed up by Stef Langton.

Gemma Rule said: “All our production work to date has had some additional creative thinking upfront. Rhythm needed a full time creative partner and Bear in Black was the perfect fit. Like us, Stef and his team believe that quality craftsmanship and service should be at the forefront of everything we do.”

Rhythm’s creative offering is led by Creative Director Langton and Creative Lead, Gordon Haynes with support by Head of Creative Adam Rule. Rounding out the creative team are designers specialising in brand and advertising. Senior Account Director, Laura Morano leads the account service and project management team alongside Account Managers, Ethan Norris and Jodie Hameister. Morano joined Rhythm with a wealth of international experience and has flourished within Rhythm’s unique and diverse agency culture.

Rhythm Films is spearheaded by Executive Producer Candice Shields, who has recently returned to Perth after a decade working in Sydney agencies and production houses on campaigns for brands including Vogue, GQ, Delicious, Escape, Taste TV, Kidspot, and locally for John West, Sunbeam, RAC, Horizon, Water Corp and Silverchain. She is supported by Joe Wilkie, whose work in documentary, drama, advertising and social media has been featured in VICE, The Huffington Post and Daily Mail.

Rhythm Films has kicked off 2022 with a bang, producing two projects for Wunderman Thompson – a national TVC campaign for Steel Blue, directed by Adam Rule; and a Melle Branson-directed spot for Horizon Power. Additionally, two projects for Pretty Soon, and a number of direct jobs have rounded out a busy start to the year.

“Rhythm Films is the answer to the growing need for high-quality integrated campaign shoots in Perth, as a production company that understands print requirements and digital outputs, broadcast spec and everything in between,” says Shields, “Rhythm Films produces both stills and video campaigns under one roof, commissioning freelance directors & photographers, and traveling interstate as needed.”

Video production capabilities sit across traditional TVCs, digital content, original content, line production and stills photography, leaning on an extensive database of Australian crew to fit the right artists to the creative brief. This wider production offering, allows agency partners to select a director or photographer and benefit from Rhythm Films as a production-only resource that acts as an extension of their creative and client services.

Overseeing the two entities is Briannan Dean, who takes on the role of General Manager after a year as Rhythm’s Business Development Manager. Dean is active in WA’s independent agency scene as Treasurer of Independent Commercial Communications in WA (IN:WA) and has a collaborative and forward-thinking mindset when it comes to guiding Rhythm’s growth as a proud independent agency and production company.

Two new websites, rhythmfilms.au and rhythmagency.au have been launched.
