Plunkett Homes celebrates 120 years with new campaign by Dear Storyteller and Lush
What if our homes didn’t just influence the way we lived, but also shaped entire suburbs for generations to come? To tell the story of their 120-year legacy, Plunkett Homes commissioned local creative agencies Dear Storyteller and Lush to create their anniversary campaign, set to launch this week.
As Western Australia’s oldest home builder, Plunkett Homes has been at the heart of Perth’s evolution since 1903 – from Highgate to Como, Scarborough to Wanneroo, Geraldton to Albany, and beyond. That’s already a powerful statement; but the creative team dove deeper, weaving together an array of voices and perspectives to resonate with the audience on an emotional level.
“I think documentary shorts like this have become some of our most popular campaigns because people are more used to seeing real people telling real stories than ever before,” explained lead creative strategist, Mike Drysdale. “It’s both a historical retrospective and human interest story. The kind of narrative people can see themselves in; so, when they’re ready to build, Plunkett feels like the perfect choice.”
Set to roll out across TV, cinemas, press, outdoor, social media, an online content hub, and even a coffee table book, the anniversary campaign offers a rich array of detail – not just about the business, but about the suburbs we all know and love.
Its hero piece is a short documentary collating stories from throughout the brand’s history; families that have put down roots with Plunkett Homes speaking alongside generations of staff that have driven its legacy forward. The film blurs the line between editorial and advertising, documentary and reality, to reveal stories, draw out characters, and showcase the brand.
“Our houses shape WA suburbs, and these families make them feel like home,” said Plunkett Homes Marketing Manager, Merianne Hayles. “Alongside the houses that define WA’s architectural landscape, that legacy has contributed to our state’s identity. As we look ahead, there are many stories still left to be written; the fingerprint future Plunkett families will leave on our great state.”
