Following on from an incredibly busy and growth-filled past 24 months for both of his enterprises, Perth is OK! And Social Meteor, co-founder Luke Whelan has been recognised in Business News’ annual Power 500 list.

The Power 500 is a listing of Western Australia’s most influential business leaders across the state’s major industries, and Whelan was ranked at #10 under the Media, Communications and Lobbyists Category.

Whelan joins the likes of Kerry Stokes and Maryna Fewster from Seven West Media, West Australian editor-in-chief Anthonoy De Ceglie and 9News Perth Director Gareth Parker as some of WA media’s most important people.

“It’s very humbling to be included amongst some of the most inspirational names in the industry in this year’s Power 500. It’s been an incredible couple of years for Perth is OK! & Social Meteor and none of it would have happened without Benjamin Hardy, Blake Kelleway and the talented crew that show up and work their arse off every day.”

Whelan joins more than 130 new faces across 19 categories in Business News’ annual round-up of who’s who in the Western Australian business world, with coveted spots ‘balancing past achievements, visibility in the present and likely stand in the future’.

Over the past few years Perth is OK! (co-founded by Whelan and Blake Kelleway) has gone from a popular Instagram hashtag celebrating Perth to a powerful player in WA media, becoming one of the State’s largest independent publishers with a total social following well in excess of 1 million.

Meanwhile Social Meteor (with co-founder Benjamin Hardy) continues to emerge as one of Western Australia’s top social media advertising agency, working with the likes of Chicken Treat, Rent.com.au, Toyota, Harley Davidson and Hilton, with a growing team of 10.
