Perth is OK! launches collaboration wine with Local Weirdos at Astral Weeks
Local independent digital media outlet, Perth is OK! Celebrated the launch of their collaboration wine with winemakers, Local Weirdos from the Swan Valley, at a packed party last Thursday at Northbridge listing bar, Astral Weeks. The night was filled with music, great vibes, and the clinking of glasses as guests enjoyed the first of this exciting new wine.
By 7PM, the venue was at full capacity, with event goers spilling out into the laneway, embracing the warm(ish) evening and festive atmosphere. Perth is OK! DJs, Troy Mutton and Blake Kelleway, set the tone with a vinyl-only set, joined by Nicole Filev, beloved local DJ and RTR FM radio host, who brought her eclectic style to the decks. It was a night of celebration, with many industry heads in attendance, showcasing the fusion of Perth’s vibrant culture and local wine craftsmanship.
The wine, available on the shelves of Besk, Mane Liquor, Copper & Oak and other top independent bottle shops across Perth, is a limited release of just over 1,800 bottles. You can also buy it online on Local Weirdo’s website here.

“When the fellas at Perth is OK! gave us the call up to make a wine for the city we love, we set out to celebrate our state and our mates while making a wine with the sort of laid back sophistication that makes our city so damn Ok…. Like Tony Galati, in a suit.
“We were thrilled to collaborate with Perth is OK! on a wine as they have been doing a damn fine job of reminding people of why Perth (and Western Australia at large) is just so damn ok for quite some time now.
“This is an assemblage of some fun parcels from mates of ours farming all around the state. We really tried to capture as much of WA as we could and put it into the bottle.
“Designed to be a smashable red. Bottled with a devlish kiss of sulphites (30ppm,) although not enough to constrain a cheeky bit of refermentation in bottle. As a consequence the wine has a sublty carbonically spritzy edge to it that we have elected to find tasty and fun.

– 50% Cabernet/37.5% Shiraz/9.75% Merlot/2.75% Sauvignon Blanc
– 100% oak elevage, 100% skin contact
– 87.5% Swan Valley/12.5% Great Southern fruit
– 87.5% farmed by Garth/12.5% farmed by Alexi
“Fun, zesty, intense, Pink Lady and white pepper. Electric acidity with graphite minerality. Puckering, effervescent and electric. The result? a pretty damn ok wine.”
