One week to go for PADC Skulls Entries

If you’ve spent a week building a colourful spreadsheet and assigning tasks for this year’s award entries, now’s the time to actually get them finished and entered.
Download the 2022 Call for Entry Guide here and enter your best work online at the 2022 Skulls portal.
Renew your membership or sign up today here (it’s fully tax deductible and saves you on entries and tickets to the 2022 Skulls).
Save the date for the Awards Night on 18th November, 2022 (cancel all Christmas parties).
And don’t forget to enter your Client Service creative champions in the new Client Service category in the Diamond Skulls awards – specifically created to recognise the value of Client Service in the creation, selling and/or producing of some of WA’s best creative ideas.
For any enquiries, please get in touch with Club Manager Tia Brazier at admin@padc.com.au or Club President Josh Edge at president@padc.com.au.

Upping the prices and reducing the amount of time to pull together entries… bit rough PADC!
There better be a decent food spread this year is all i’m saying.
What’s with the 2 weeks notice? Thanks for the unpaid overtime PADC.
You don’t need a call for entries to start pulling your award stuff together…
Hi all,
Well, it looks like it’s that time of year again, when ol’ grumpy Edge is wheeled out to respond.
As PADC President, myself and the committee are always ready and willing to take feedback (and, more importantly, help) from the broader creative community. Last year the CFE opened 3rd August, closed 22 August (13 working days, not including weekends). This year we opened on 17th August, closing 2nd September (12 working days, not including weekends). The PADCs, much like Christmas, come but once a year at this same time, every year. Nobody needs to wait until CFE to get entries and boards organised – in fact, that seems like a silly scenario considering the amount of PR, online case studies, pitches and more that are organised every month in a competitive creative market like Perth. The 2022 PADC AGM outlined all of this at the start of the year.
The PADC organises this without profit (or pay, for that matter), while each running our own creative entries, teams, businesses.
More importantly, we need sponsorship support in an environment that has been battered to pieces between the lingering effects of COVID and centralisation of local sponsorship funding to the East Coast. The cost of the award entries has been, and continues to be, fixed to internationally-low prices. Many of us passionately argue on behalf of Perth’s independent agencies and freelances every year to continue making the awards as cost effective as possible for everyone to enter. The best way we can reduce prices on the individuals and agencies is to receive support from the industry that we’re here to serve. This year, that support has not been forthcoming.
To be clear, the award entry fees basically cover the cost of producing the awards themselves, not the awards show. For that, we require a lot of unpaid hours of support, sponsorship, and ticket prices.
We believe totally in the power of creativity, and the ability of Perth to punch above its weight on the world stage, and for the PADC’s role in doing what it can to support, inspire, and reward great creativity. But for this to happen, the Perth industry needs to be more professional and organised about how we promote ourselves and our work. Waiting for a CFE to start getting our industry’s best work into a presentable state is not good practice.
Well said Josh!
It has been mentioned at the AGM that format’s and categories will change, therefore preparing entries to an unknown spec and/or category doesn’t sound efficient. So it’s nice to finally have it confirmed that the timing and format won’t change each year, via CB comment thread.
PR, Case Studies etc… that are released are mostly done so by the larger agencies with money and time (and over-promised promotion teased juniors and mid-weights) to burn.
Suggest taking a look at AGDA, structured (lower) entry costs over extended periods with a much better upload platform.
While we’re at it too, what are we getting out of the (increased) $80 membership fee? An AGM and AGDA Monday boozer tack on?
We don’t need this kind of negativity in this town, ‘via CB comment thread’.
If you want it to change, join the committee. If you don’t want to join the committee, you don’t want it to change.
@Weak is entitled to their opinion as I presume they are a PADC member.
“We don’t need this kind of negativity in this town, ‘via CB comment thread’.” – Sure, but it’s a valid point.
“Join the committee” – Sure, coz that’s easy.
@Josh It feels like a constant excuse is that time is donated yada yada. Sure, but you signed up for it.
If you need help, maybe call out for it? This industry get behind each other more often than not, why not send out some calls for assistance via the email database? You might be surprised with the response.
Lastly, previous years have had similar entry time frames, it feels like the difference is there has always been (at least prior to 2019) relatively constant updates on socials etc… and local events etc… throughout the year. This has significantly reduced, which doesn’t make it feel like a representation, celebration or collaboration.
the PADC gave Brand a silver for it’s own hallway mural…
The agency was listed as both the client and the agency on the entry.
Maybe that’s why industry support hasn’t been forthcoming.
@Not Weak but agree with Weak
Please chuck us a line at president@padc.com.au, love your energy and optimism and want to discuss how you can help the Club with your assistance. Very, very keen to start this ball rolling.
