NOVA celebrates Shauny Mac’s birthday in “Bali”

The pop of a bottle of Bintang, the crashing of waves, a rev of a scooter or three and the unmistakable scent of Bali were all a distant memory for Nova 93.7’s Shaun McManus who has been pining after his favourite island playground.

With WA’s borders firmly shut and any hopes of international travel dashed, Shauny Mac’s co-hosts Nathan Morris and Natalie Locke decided to surprise him a slice of the tropical paradise for his birthday!

On Wednesdays show the Subiaco station’s balcony was decked out with lush leafy greens, melodic Balinese sounds and the wafting of incense.

Shaun was surprised by station staff all dressed in their resort wear and welcomed onto the balcony with an esky full of icy cold Bintangs, plus a masseuse on hand to transport him right to his favourite holiday destination live on air – no passport necessary!

As the celebrations ran on throughout the morning, the trio were also served food by renowned chef Will Meyrick who runs popular fine-dining restaurants Mama San and Sarong in Bali who has since relocated to Perth due to the pandemic and now runs Leederville eatery Will St. Meyrick’s wife Wati cooked up traditional Balinese Rijstaffel.
