Nine Perth grows audiences in 2023
According to a Nine Perth press statement, the station was the only Network and Primary Channel in 2023 to proclaim local growth across the free-to-air primetime shares with all key demographics and Total People.
The release details across the 2023 Calendar Year the 9Network grew FTA primetime network shares year-on-year in Perth with People 25-54 (+2.8 ppt), People 16-39 (+2.9 ppt), GS+Child (+3.1 ppt) and Total People (+1.5 ppt). Across the Ratings Survey period, the 9Network also increased year-on-year locally with People 25-54 (+2.9 ppt), People 16-39 (+2.8 ppt), GS+Child (+2.2 ppt) and Total People (+1.6 ppt).
Meanwhile Channel 9 also grew FTA primary channel shares year-on-year in Perth primetime across the Calendar Year with People 25-54 (+2.3 ppt), People 16-39 (+2.3 ppt), GS+Child (+2.0 ppt) and Total People (+1.4 ppt). The Ratings Survey period also delivered yearly Channel 9 growth locally with People 25-54 (+2.0 ppt), People 16-39 (+1.7 ppt), GS+Child (+0.8 ppt) and Total People (+1.4 ppt).
In 2023, 9NEWS was the only primetime commercial news in Perth to grow its linear audience year-on-year with People 25-54 (+1.5%), People 16-39 (23.3%) and Total People (+0.6%). Meanwhile A CURRENT AFFAIR grew its Perth audience in 2023 with People 25-54 (17.6%), People 16-39 (23.7%) GS+Child (4.7%) and Total People (+11.1%).
Across its slate of entertainment programs, Married at First Sight proved its local popularity in 2023, being Perth’s highest-rating reality program. It increased its full season average audience year-on-year in Perth with People 25-54 (+11.0%), People 16-39 (+31.1%), GS+Child (+11.0%) and Total People (+6.3%). Also, its launch audience was significantly up year-on-year with ALL key demos – People 25-54 (+40.4%), People 16-39 (+91.7%), GS+Child (+29.4%) and Total People (+27.2%).
LEGO Masters grew its full season average audience year-on-year in Perth with People 16-39 (+15.9%) and the finale episode increased by +41.6% in the same demo. And the popular Travel Guides earned full season average audience growth in Perth with People 25-54 (+1.4%), People 16-39 (+16.0%), GS+Child (+9.8%) and Total People (+5.7%).
Nine’s performance also extends to Broadcast Video On Demand (BVOD) viewing, where 9Now is once again an unrivalled No. 1 with all key demographics and Total People. In 2023, 9Now reached more Australians than any other commercial free-to-air BVOD platform. On average, 4 million Australians tune into 9Now every month – 17% more than 2022. An astonishing 18.7 billion minutes of content has been streamed on 9Now in 2023 – a year-on-year increase of 16%.
As to the future, Nine is looking forward to a big 2024 with MAFS, The Block, LEGO Masters and Travel Guides set to return, as well as a slate of local programs such as Destination WA, The Garden Gurus, Our State On A Plate and more. New programming in 2024 includes Tipping Point Australia and Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars.
Nine is also the exclusive home of the highly-anticipated 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics and will steer viewers across 32 sports in 329 events with its extensive coverage featuring some of Australia’s most revered athletic talent as commentators and experts.
