New radio campaign comes to the rescue of Greyhound Adoptions WA
Soundbyte, Hearts & Science, voice-over artist Joel Jackson and freelance creative, Alida Henson, have all come together to create a pro-bono radio campaign to help retired racing greyhounds find their forever homes. Southern Cross Austereo and ARN have also generously donated airtime in support of the campaign.
The idea for a radio campaign was conceived when Alida Henson became a foster carer for Blue (pictured).
Henson said: “When I got involved, I quickly realised that despite the incredible work of GAWA and their army of volunteers, there are just more dogs in need of a home than there are currently families looking to adopt. I knew the best way I could help was by calling on my industry contacts to get the word out. I’ve been astounded by how many people instantly said ‘yes’ and how generous they’ve been.”
The campaign, which compares the way greyhounds were regarded throughout history with the way they’re treated today, will run on the Hit and Triple M networks, Mix94.5, 96FM and 96FM 80s throughout April.
Joe Purdy, General Manager Hearts & Science WA, said: “This is such a great initiative, supporting a dedicated and passionate organisation, and we were thrilled to be able to contribute, even in a small way. Thanks to Alida for spearheading the whole project as well as our incredibly generous media partners, SCA and ARN for going that extra mile to support us.”
Greyhound Adoptions WA is a not-for-profit, no-kill organisation, run entirely by volunteers and isn’t affiliated with the racing industry. Their mission statement is – ‘Adopting a greyhound won’t change the world but the world will change for that greyhound.’
