Leonardo.Ai taps Cannes jury president and global judges to explore the future of AI-generated art in latest ‘Spill’ trend report

Straight off the back of the Cannes Festival where, for the first time, juries were tasked with assessing art generated from AI, Leonardo.Ai has released the second edition of its trend report, which features “spills” from Jessica Walsh, Founder of &Walsh and President of the Cannes Lions Design Jury; Alex Naghavi, Creative Director and and ADC Awards Judge and Kiwi expat Malcolm Poynton, Former Global Chief Creative Officer, D&AD Trustee and Judge.
Titled Spill: Volume Two, the report dives into the evolving creative landscape, where AI-generated art is no longer just a visual experiment but a deliberate and deeply considered medium. This edition features insights from three of the industry’s top creative minds, each offering a candid take on how AI is reshaping artistic intention, process and recognition.
Leonardo.Ai’s Creative Technologist, Jessie Hughes, explores the emotional and human dimensions of this transformation in conversation with:
• Jessica Walsh, Founder of &Walsh and President of the Cannes Lions Design Jury
Walsh’s Spill: “AI may master creative visuals, but it doesn’t originate intent.”
• Alex Naghavi, Creative Director and ADC Awards Judge
Naghavi’s Spill: “In a new category of their own, grading for a new medium is no mean feat.”
• Malcolm Poynton, Former Cheil Global Chief Creative Officer, D&AD Trustee and Judge
Poynton’s Spill: “While other shows scramble to wedge in AI categories, the D&AD Awards embeds AI across disciplines—no novelty boxes here.”
With Volume Two, Spill continues to challenge assumptions about AI and art, spotlighting the creative leadership shaping this new frontier.
