Juicebox’s Andrew Stone to join Accessibility jury for the Australian Web Awards

Andrew Stone, Senior Project Manager at Juicebox, has been named as an accessibility judge for the prestigious Australian Web Awards (AWA).

As digital experiences continue to shape how brands interact with audiences, accessibility has become a critical factor in creating inclusive and user-friendly digital platforms. Stone’s appointment not only acknowledges his expertise but also solidifies Juicebox’s role in leading the conversation around accessibility in the digital space.

“At Juicebox, we believe in making a meaningful impact within the industry,” Stone explains. “Accessibility has always been a passion of mine, and this opportunity represents both a personal achievement and recognition of Juicebox as a leader in this space.”

Ensuring websites are not only visually appealing and high performing but also accessible to all users – including those with disabilities – is at the core of Juicebox’s approach. Stone’s involvement with the Australian Web Awards will allow him to advocate for greater awareness and implementation of accessibility best practices across the industry.

In today’s fast-evolving and expanding digital world, accessibility must be embedded into the design and development process from the start.

“Accessibility is about creating digital experiences that work for everyone,” says Stone. Comparing it to physical infrastructure, he adds, “Just as automatic doors enhance accessibility and convenience in the physical world, accessible web design improves usability, making digital interactions seamless and suitable for all users.”

“Accessibility actually fuels innovation. When we prioritise inclusivity, we push the boundaries of design in ways that resonate universally. By integrating accessibility principles from the outset, we create experiences that are both visually compelling and functionally effective.”

When balancing bold web design with accessibility, Stone stresses the importance of user-centric testing.

“Accessibility is the key to true inclusivity. People with disabilities don’t see themselves as limited if digital experiences are designed with them in mind. It’s our role as designers and developers to provide solutions that cater to diverse user needs.”

Stone’s passion for accessibility is deeply personal. “Having friends and family with disabilities has given me insight into the barriers they encounter in both physical and digital spaces. This personal connection drives my commitment to creating more inclusive digital experiences.”

At Juicebox, Stone translates his advocacy into actionable strategies, fostering a culture where accessibility is a fundamental component of the development process.

“Accessibility isn’t about achieving perfection – it’s about continuous improvement that enhances digital experiences for everyone,” he concludes.
