In near perfect conditions, on Friday afternoon, the highly anticipated SWM AFL 9’s Challenge, featuring the Advertising All-Stars versus Seven West Media, was held at Sullivan Logistics Stadium.

Before the bounce, both teams were hit with late withdrawals, prompting All-Stars coach Jakob Troy-Johnston to step onto the field as the team’s first-ever player-coach.

The match started at a fast-pace and a spirited contest, with The All-Stars surging ahead, going into the half-time break with a 23-point lead.

In the second half, Seven West Media displayed a brave comeback, but the damage done in the first half proved too great to overcome. When the final siren sounded, it was the Advertising All-Stars who celebrated a 16-point victory, extending their winning streak to seven matches.

The Best on Ground award, which was voted by a panel of five judges, was a close call this year. Two players were tied with six votes each, but ultimately, Agency All Stars, Jay Cutler from Initiative, claimed the honour after a countback. The award was a well-deserved recognition, especially alongside his remarkable five-goal performance.
