Bonfire becomes WA’s first ACA-accredited digital performance agency

Independent digital performance agency, Bonfire has been awarded Accredited Member status by Advertising Council Australia (ACA) for 2025, recognising its commitment to industry-leading employee policies, mental health standards, and organisational ethics.

Bonfire has achieved a major milestone as one of only nine WA agencies accredited by the ACA – and the state’s sole digital agency to hold this recognition.

Accreditation through ACA establishes a national benchmark that reinforces advertising as a trusted and professional service. It recognises agencies that embed strong systems around ethical conduct, staff wellbeing, and operational excellence. For Bonfire, this milestone represents more than compliance — it reflects a deep commitment to lifting standards across the industry and cultivating a culture where people are supported and can thrive.

“This accreditation reflects the behind-the-scenes work agencies don’t often talk about — and Bonfire’s commitment to embedding excellence into every level of our operations,” said Nicola Sonnenberg, People & Culture Lead at Bonfire.

Sonnenberg continued: “We see it as validation, not just for our People & Culture team, but for the people-first culture our entire organisation helps shape every day.”

To be accredited, agencies must demonstrate:
• A compliant and current staff policy handbook
• An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for all employees
• A qualified Mental Health First Aid Officer (for agencies with over 50 employees)
• Company-wide access to ACA Codes & Compliance training

In addition to these criteria, Bonfire also offers staff with a tenure of two or more years an extra week of annual leave, provides agency-wide resilience training, and supports a dedicated Employee Representative Group (ERG) that advocates for social, well-being, and employment interests.

“ACA Accreditation is designed to recognise agencies that lead with integrity, invest in their people, and operate with a clear commitment to best practice,” said Melissa Vella, WA State Manager at Advertising Council Australia.

“Bonfire’s accreditation is a testament to the strength of their internal culture and their dedication to building a more sustainable, accountable, and people-focused industry.”

The accreditation adds to a growing list of achievements for Bonfire, whose continued investment in team development, training and leadership was recently highlighted by its programmatic media certification through IAB Australia and new partner status through the Meta Badged Partner programme.
