Berlin and West Australian Music capture WA’s wild music spirit in new brand identity

West Australian Music (WAM) has unleashed the untamed energy of the local music scene with a week-long celebration of live shows, industry events and creative collaborations.
Independent agency Berlin has created a new brand platform and identity for WA Music Week — A little west of wild — capturing the relentlessly original music being made far from the east coast spotlight.
Will Miles, Berlin Design Director, said: “In WA, music blooms the way wildflowers do. In strange, beautiful, and unexpected places. It’s almost uncontainable and unmistakably ours. With A little west of wild, we wanted the identity for WA Music Week to feel the same. A bit raw, magnetic, and defiantly authentic. The local music scene really embraced this new direction and we’re already looking forward to seeing how it will grow, flourish and erupt over the coming years.”
WAMCon, the Week’s two-day industry conference drew 295 attendees, doubling its record attendance. While the WAM Showcase on Saturday night exposed over 1000 fans to music from underrated or emerging artists such as Great Gable, Alter Boy, Angie Colman, Kayps, Late 90s and many more.
Owen Whittle, CEO WAM, said: “Following a shift in strategic direction for WAM and the difficult decision to postpone WA Music Week in 2024, we relaunched our 2025 event with a brand and identity that not only marketed the event to the public but also captured what makes our local music scene the best in the country.
“Balancing polished branding with the grit and sticky-floors culture of the music industry was always a challenge, but the overwhelmingly positive reaction from the music community has set us up with the strong foundations we need to grow the event in the years ahead.”
