AFL Legend and 9News Perth presenter Matthew Pavlich bound for Sydney

9News Perth sports presenter and AFL great Matthew Pavlich has today announced his departure from Perth to take up the role of Chief Executive Officer at the Sydney Swans.
The former Fremantle Dockers Captain will replace Tom Harley who is departing the Swans after five years as CEO to take on the role of AFL Chief Operating Officer.
Pavlich captained the Fremantle Dockers for nine seasons, is a six-time club champion and six-time All Australian. He joined 9News Perth in 2018 as sports presenter.
“It’s with a heavy heart because I’ve loved my time at Nine. It’s been wonderful to learn the art of broadcasting alongside the likes of Michael Thomson, Monika Kos, Tracy Vo, Scherri-Lee Biggs and Paddy Sweeney, so it wasn’t an easy decision,” he said.
9News Perth, Director of News, Michael Genovese, said: “Matthew has played his part in our recent ratings success and we are sad to see him go. Sydney is a club famous for its culture so for them to choose Pav to lead that culture, it speaks volumes for us as a news room.”
