7NEWS’ Samantha Jolly goes back to school
The Seven Network is launching 7NEWS School Visits, giving primary school students the opportunity to learn more about weather forecasting and what happens behind the scenes of the daily 7NEWS weather report.
Commencing in Term 4 of the 2026 school year, 7NEWS Presenter Samantha Jolly will visit participating schools to take students through how forecasts are created, the science behind changing weather and how it comes to life on television.
The visits will be interactive, with students able to ask questions and take part in activities designed to give them a greater understanding of weather and forecasting.
7NEWS cameras will also be rolling at the school visits, with highlights featuring on that evening’s bulletin.
Samantha Jolly said: “Weather is something students see and experience every day, so the school visits are a great opportunity to explain how we turn all that information into the forecasts they see on 7NEWS.
“I’m looking forward to answering their questions and showing them what happens behind the scenes.”
7NEWS Perth News Director, Christien de Garis, said: “Connecting with the community is an important part of what we do at 7NEWS, and that is reflected in the loyalty of our audience.
“Having Sam visit our schools is another opportunity to connect with the people and families who turn to 7NEWS to find out what is happening in WA.”
“These visits allow students to see how a news story comes together, learn more about weather and meet the people they see on their screens each night.”
WA schools are encouraged to register now at 7NEWS.com.au/schoolvisits
