How the latest Department of Health STI campaign turned into a date night opportunity
Great results often happen when you need to overcome unexpected challenges and act quickly. And that’s what happened as Kiosk Creative developed the latest Healthy Sexual campaign for the Department of Health.
Building on last year’s successful syphilis campaign by Rare, the brief expanded to include gonorrhoea, both of which are increasing in WA.
After a photoshoot with the talented Daniel Njegich, featuring Aboriginal and culturally diverse talent, Kiosk Creative rolled out the assets across radio, social, digital and out-of-home.
Then media partner Initiative spotted an opportunity for cinema, placing an ad before the movies Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, One Night Only, and I Want Your Sex – all perfect for STI messaging. A great idea, but the problem was that there were only stills, no video.
Kiosk Creative needed a creative solution to make the most of this opportunity. Working closely (and quickly) with Sandbox Productions, the team turned the campaign stills into video through a ‘Polaroid Date Night’ story, with a script that brought the idea to life.
Most importantly, using the existing stills integrated the execution perfectly into the campaign, so it didn’t feel like an afterthought, while allowing Kiosk Creative to deliver within the existing budget in a matter of days.
The experience showed Kiosk Creative how important it is to have trusted and talented partners who allow the team to work collaboratively and move quickly when opportunities present themselves to create great work.
